MIS Technical Officer

Purpose
To support the delivery of the highest quality learner data management with specific responsibility for ensuring maximum efficiency in data processing.
To take a lead role on automating ILR production and import into related college systems, standardised data-checking, automated data-correction routines, data manipulation / interrogation and associated reports.
Duties
- To be part of the MIS team providing data management services to all customers (both internal and external) including curriculum planning, timetabling, registers, ILR production, funding returns and resource utilisation.
- To possess excellent data interrogation and manipulation skills and to develop and maintain automated solutions to ensure ILR / data processing and editing is efficient and standardised.
- To work with the MIS & Exams Manager in developing and maintaining a high quality reporting functionality via Reporting Dashboards
- To take a lead role in identifying efficient procedural, technical and software solutions to enhance the quality of learner data.
- Further development and deployment of application software to support a culture of “Right First Time” thereby reducing the need for manual intervention.
- To develop and enhance high-level skills and knowledge of the student records management system and other associated software applications in order to deliver a consistently high level of data accuracy/validity
- To develop and enhance data warehouses and other data sharing processes between the different college databases
- To provide support to the MIS Officer and MIS Assistant in the creation of the Individualised Learner Record (ILR) file and other funding returns for the various funding streams drawn down by the College.
- To develop and maintain effective, supportive working relationships with all users of the service.
- To keep abreast of changes to funding methodology so as to ensure that all customers are given consistent and accurate information.
- To contribute to the on-going development of relevant MIS reports and to promote their usage within the college.
- To contribute to management discussions and decisions related to the software solutions used for MIS..
- To contribute to the design and review of relevant policies and procedures.
- To provide support to and work collaboratively with other members of the Funding and Information directorate team as directed.
- Ensure continuous development and improvement of professional knowledge.
- To assist the MIS and Exams team to continuously improve effectiveness and efficiency
- Maintain technical documentation including but not limited to version control, licencing information, server configuration and software
- To utilise appropriate project planning tools and work with the MIS and Exams Manager and MIS Officers to deliver college projects and enhancements to current technologies.
- Any other duties, of a similar level of responsibility, as may be required.

SALARY SCALE: £28,157.42 per annum
HOURS OF DUTY: 36 hours per week
