Lecturer - Science

Purpose

To teach on Science related programs and provide high quality teaching, learning and assessment. You will plan and deliver active, creative and engaging lessons to contribute to the overall curriculum experience for our enthusiastic learners, within a high performing team.

Duties

  • To deliver high quality curriculum to inspire, motivate and challenge all students to achieve
  • To teach on a range of full and part-time courses within the science curriculum to young people and adults.
  • You will be responsible for planning and delivering teaching/learning programmes using a flexible range of strategies.
  • You will be developing pedagogical resources to meet individual learner needs.
  • You will assess student progress against highly personalised progress targets.
  • To contribute to the planning, monitoring and evaluation of the curriculum.
  • Taking responsibility for the quality of your own teaching and related curriculum development.
  • To promote and participate in the delivery of mathematics and English.
  • To be responsible for the continuous improvement in attendance, punctuality, retention and achievement of students in designated teaching groups.
  • To contribute and produce timely reports and references on students’ progress and performance
  • To participate in student interviews, enrolment and induction, open days and other liaison activities.
  • To work co-operatively within a team and attend all team meetings
  • To fully participate in the college’s ILT strategy including contributing to the upkeep of the section’s intranet site
  • To maintain comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of specialist areas
  • To contribute to the total learning experience of students within the curriculum area
  • Ensure continuous development and improvement of professional knowledge.
  • Any other duties of a similar level of responsibility as may be required.

OTHER INFORMATION

SALARY SCALE: £22,3738.54 - £32,784.03 per annum

HOURS OF DUTY: 35 hours per week

CLOSING DATE: 20th February 2020

HOLIDAY ENTITLEMENT: 53 days plus bank holidays
