HR Apprentice



To actively contribute to providing a high quality Human Resources service to the College. To provide support to the HR Manager, HR Advisor, HR Assistant, Payroll Officer and Occupational Health Advisor; working with them to enable the delivery of Human Resources initiatives.


  • To respond professionally and in a timely manner to all general enquires (non-course-related) and correspondence and deal with incoming and outgoing post for the HR team.
  • To assist in Recruitment and Selection activities and take a lead role in Apprenticeship recruitment and selection activities.
  • To monitor and track new employees ensuring all the necessary documentation and checks are carried out and ensuring the induction of new employees is effective.
  • To assist with Training and Development events and activities.
  • To support with College activities such as open days/events.
  • To ensure the maintenance of accurate and up to date records, both manual and computerised, relating to all HR matters including the input of starters, leavers and amendments, meeting audit requirements.
  • To support with College activities such as open days/events.
  • To provide administrative support for the department.
  • To actively participate as a member of the Human Resources team assisting other team members at times of peak workload in HR, Learning & Development and Payroll; contributing to team projects with guidance and assisting with driving forward improvements.
  • To undertake in-house and other training in order to develop and improve customer services responses and maintain up to date working knowledge of designated college systems and procedures.
  • To ensure prompt and accurate filing of all documentation.
  • Ensure continuous development and improvement of personal professional knowledge.
  • To administrate and monitor the DBS process for staff and other relevant documentation.
  • To undertake specific project work under the direction/guidance of the HR Manager.
  • To arrange (including sending documentation), attend participate and take minutes where necessary in team meetings.
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team with colleagues from different viewpoints.
  • To ensure all requirements of the apprentice qualification are met. 18.Any other duties, of a similar level of responsibility, as may be required.


SALARY SCALE: In line with National Minimum Wage (£4.35 - £8.21 per hour)

HOURS OF DUTY: 36 hours per week
