Centre Director for Technology
Hopwood Hall College is an ambitious and highly performing further education college based across two campuses situated in Greater Manchester, with a 72 acre green site in Middleton and a town centre site in Rochdale. We have around 450 staff working for the college catering for over 12,000 full time and part time learners.
Driven by our Strategic Intentions, we are in the pursuit of excellence in all that we do. This guides and assists the connections we have with other like-minded organisations, employers, business and local community organisations.
Within the Technology Centre our achievements in automotive, engineering and construction are significantly above the national average, with engineering being in the top 5% of colleges nationally, something that we are very proud of.
Part of our success is due to the value we place on longstanding partnerships that ensure that current and future students benefit from the best possible opportunities to progress further into the world of work and onto higher education. We are constantly reviewing our curriculum offer to ensure we provide a wide range of opportunities for our learners as well as meeting the skills requirements of local employers.
This academic year the Technology Centre has achieved ‘Outstanding’ Key Stage 5 progress, which places the college in the top 6 of colleges nationally. We successfully deliver an integrated approach to the provision of functional skills within the vocational curriculum.
At Hopwood Hall College we are determined to do the very best for all our students by continuing to provide an excellent education, which transforms their lives and prospects. To achieve this, in what is a new education landscape and a tough economic climate, requires ambition, innovation and a relentless focus on high quality teaching and learning, and on providing every student with key life and employability skills. This is facilitated by the colleges’ engagement within regional and national construction and engineering skills competitions.
The College has seen steady growth and has an annual turnover of over £25m. The College’s financial health status is “outstanding”, this allows us to invest in the College’s estates, the student experience, our teaching and learning facilities and in the quality and development of the College’s provision. The College had a very good OFSTED inspection in November 2016 and our current success performance places us in the top quartile for vocational colleges nationally.
The College is a vibrant and diverse place to work where the learners are always our focus. Driven by a high performance culture our ambition is to be outstanding in everything that we do. If you wish to join us on this journey then I look forward to receiving your application.
Please feel free to contact the HR Department on 0161 643 7560 ext. 6903 if you wish to arrange an informal discussion regarding this role.
May I wish you good luck with your application.
