Parent Zone

We know that parents, guardians and carers are just as excited about the opportunities that college presents for their young person. However, you might also be unsure about how your child will settle into a new environment that’s very different from school.

You play an important role in your young person’s learning and because of this we’ll always keep you informed about their progress. You’ll have the opportunity to speak to the tutors, come along to events at the college and even attend information sessions when your young person first joins us.

One of the main differences between school and college will be that your young person won’t be ‘in class’ every day. Instead, lessons will be timetabled throughout the week and there will be days where they are expected to learn but aren’t necessarily required on campus.

Please be rest-assured that we’ll always offer your child the highest level of support from the moment they start deciding which course they want to do. This support will remain when they join our college community to ensure that they’re always happy and thriving at Hopwood.

Join our Parent Portal

Our Parent Portal is where you can keep track of your child’s progress while they are studying with us. It’s easily accessible and can be found at the top of every page on the website.

It’s a really useful tool for many parents, carers and guardians because it includes information on attendance, as well as grades awarded for each practical assessment and written assignment.

For details on how to register, download our Parent Portal User Guide.

Measles

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has declared a national incident as measles are on the rise in England and there is a growing public health risk. ID Cards

Students are required to wear an ID badge at all times while at college. This will ensure entry to different parts of the campus. ID badges will be given out during enrolment and any lost cards can be replaced by reception.

The IDs are also used when boarding the free college bus and can be topped up as a method of payment as we are a cashless college. This means they can then be used when purchasing food, drinks, stationery, kits and places on trips.

Uniform

Your young person may be required to wear a uniform for their course. This equipment often replicates the real life attire that they would be expected to wear in their chosen profession and will is often designed to keep them safe.

Information about what kit is required will be provided ahead of the course and uniforms can be purchased online through our Uniform and Kit Shop.
