William Slater

- Commis Chef at WOOD Manchester
- Level 3 Hospitality & Catering
After showing an interest in catering at school, William wanted to carry on his passion as a profession. After visiting the College’s Riverside Restaurant and training facilities, William was suitably impressed and promptly enrolled at the College.
William quickly became one of the College’s most talented students, often being given larger responsibilities such as taking charge of the Riverside Restaurants’ back of house in his lecturer’s stead.
After MasterChef winner Simon Wood sent his team to the Riverside to scout young talent for his new upmarket restaurant WOOD, William was invited to an interview and subsequently secured a Commis Chef role.
“I feel very lucky and privileged to be able to work with such a big name in the industry in Simon Wood. It’s such a brilliant learning experience when you’re proving yourself in such a high-end environment.
”The College’s tutors really helped develop my skills to get me to this point. They taught me how vital it is to apply yourself and work to the best of your ability if you want to succeed.”
