After being released by Rochdale AFC at a young age, Tony was attracted by the combination of footballing and educational success the Hopwood Hall College Football Academy could offer.During his studies, Tony was part of the team that won the College’s first European trophy – The Eindhoven Cup.
Since leaving Hopwood Hall College, Tony studied an ASC in Physiotherapy and is now a chartered Physiotherapist. In his career to date, Tony has worked at clubs including Accrington Stanley, Notts County and Wigan Athletic.
“My tutors were a crucial part of why I pursued a career in physiotherapy. In my first year I was dead set on being a professional footballer, so I didn’t put enough effort into the educational side of my studies.
”The staff pushed me to think differently and focus on my academic work, progress to university and better myself. If they didn’t do that, I would never have studied Sports Rehabilitation at the University of Bolton and achieved the career I have.”
