- HR Assistant at Hopwood Hall College
- Business Admin Level 2
Luke previously worked in other roles but felt they were not heading in the direction he wanted. After speaking with a careers advisor, he identified Human Resources (HR) as an industry that interested him and one he could access through an apprenticeship.
As part of his apprenticeship, Luke had access to the same benefits as other students and learned on the job about different aspects of HR.
The apprenticeship enabled him to gain the qualifications, knowledge and experience needed to work in HR. He also ran activities to raise money for charities and won a FE award recognising progression on his apprenticeship.
When a permanent position became available, Luke applied and successfully became a HR Assistant at Hopwood Hall College.
“Being involved in the college winning a Times 100 Best Not-For-Profit Organisations award is among one of my favourite memories from my apprenticeship as it made me proud to be associated with the College.
“If you have an interest in a career area but don’t know much about it, speak with careers advisors - that’s what I did. I didn’t know much about what HR was but now I see myself pursuing a career to become a HR manager”.
