- Fashion and Textiles
Emma studied for a Fashion and Textiles BTEC Diploma and then followed this up with a Textiles HND, both at Hopwood Hall.
She was keen to use her creativity in a practical design job and found that the college offered her the opportunity to achieve this ambition.
Everything changed for her after completing the course. Emma now owns her own florist’s, Baytree Flowers in Middleton, after gaining experience and training whilst working for the previous owner. In the future, she hopes to expand the business by converting the flat above into a bridal shop, and even plans to display her own artwork to give customers something that they would not find anywhere else.
“I loved my time at Hopwood Hall because the tutors gave us freedom to use our own creativity and ideas. I have wanted to own my own shop since I was a little girl and I have been able to use what I learned at the college to make my flowers stand out from the rest. Although I use different materials in my work than I used on my course, it is still the same basic idea. It was a brilliant course and I am really grateful for what I learnt. I wouldn’t change a thing.”
