Dione Whalley

  • Studying Medical Science at the University of Chester
  • Level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science

Dione visited an Open Day with the aim of studying at university and becoming a Doctor. She decided that studying a vocational course over A-Levels would be better due to the more practical and experience-led learning offered.

The practical experiments and professional environment she experienced on her course gave her more satisfaction than learning at school and the support given by her lecturers helped widen her knowledge of careers in medicine.

Whilst studying at Hopwood Hall College, Dione learned a great deal about diseases, the effect of chemicals on the human body, medical anatomy and other subjects needed to become a Doctor.

“I hope to one day work as a Doctor in A&E and studying at Hopwood Hall College has given me so much knowledge to make the steps towards this and best prepare me for university and beyond.

“You get out what you put into your studies. When I first started I messed up a few practicals, but lots of hard work and focus saw me improve. I found that how you manage your time determines your grades and achievements.”
