- Engineer at Hyde Details
- Level 3 Mechanical Engineering
Connor initially studied a Level 2 Mechanical Engineering course at Hopwood Hall College and then went onto employment with engineering company, Hyde Details, designing and creating Aircraft parts.
Hyde Details saw potential in Connor and wanted him to progress within their company. However, to access higher work roles within the company he needed higher Engineering qualifications, so Connor returned to Hopwood Hall College to study his Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Mechanical Engineering as he had good relationships with the tutors and experience of the quality facilities.
At first, the step up was challenging for Connor, but soon his work experience helped him at college and the knowledge and skills gained from the course started to help him at work.
“I found that the course covered many aspects of Engineering and was always challenging. My tutors were fantastic and really helped me to understand engineering at a more detailed and thorough level.
“When I finished school I went to study A-levels and didn’t like it at all, I lost one year of my life to an uninformed decision, I wish I had gone straight onto a BTEC. Look into actual jobs and university courses, universities accept BTECs and engineering employers like hands on skills.”
