- Office Manager Apprentice for Laing O’Rourke at Manchester Airport
- Level 3 Sports Science
Not certain on what he wanted to do after leaving school, Ben decided to follow his passion and enrolled on a Sports course at Hopwood Hall College to see if he might find a career in that sector.
Ben points to the personal development he gained on the course as being invaluable. One of the most important decisions students face is to join university or not and Ben credits the course and its tutors with helping him decide his career path.
After leaving college, Ben started an apprenticeship with Laing O’Rourke. In his role as Office Manager Apprentice, Ben will develop the skills needed to become a business professional.
“There’s often a feeling that university is the go-to choice, but the big thing my course helped me understand is that it actually isn’t. What suits you as an individual is the choice you should make.
”I wanted to work full time, gain a qualification and get paid all at the same time, so an Apprenticeship was the right thing for me. Now I’m progressing in one of the UK’s biggest construction firms.”
