Aaron Diskin

  • Runner for BBC Sport at Media City
  • Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Studies

Aaron originally had aspirations to become a Radio DJ, so he enrolled at Hopwood Hall College after seeing the industry-standard media facilities on offer when compared to other colleges.

During his studies, Aaron developed a passion for writing and made started his own Oldham AFC match report Facebook page - which averaged 1000 views per report.

His page caught the attention of the BBC, where he applied for a Digital Journalism apprenticeship. Although he wasn’t successful in gaining the apprenticeship, the BBC instead offered him a full time Runner role.

“I enjoyed my time at Hopwood Hall College, it helped with my confidence and taught me the ropes of the media world.

“A lot of people seem to go on a college course that looks easy or that their friends are on. If you want to get somewhere that isn’t the right path; you need to put yourself out there and test yourself, your strengths and your weaknesses.

“If you have a passion, pursue it and don’t give up when times get difficult as you always come out the other side as a stronger person.”
