HTQ HND COMPUTING Course summary Badged as a Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ), the Pearson Higher National Diploma in Computing is ideal if you are seeking a higher education qualification or training in the world of sophisticated computing systems and networks. The programme is a non-specialist Computing pathway, without committing to a particular professional specialism. The course will give you the practical core skills necessary to succeed as an IT professional. The course aims to provide focus on providing a range of careers in Computing, such as Network Management, Application Development, Database Management, Cloud and Security. You will gain a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required to progress into employment or continued undergraduate studies. If you are not yet clear on your ultimate career pathway then this is an ideal qualification designed to develop high level skills leading to a wide range of employment opportunities. Course Content The units offered cover a range of computer- related skills and will enable you to decide on your preferred career specialism. They will include: • Programming • Networking • Professional practice • Database design and development • Security • Managing a successful computing project • Computer systems architecture • Computing research project • Web Design & Development In addition to the vocational units the course will include two projects. In the first year you will be asked to manage a computing project requiring you to undertake research, demonstrate well informed decision making and solve problems. In the second year you will be asked to undertake a research project which will draw on the areas of study across the two years.
