ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION COURSES LEVEL 2 ACCESS TO HE If you don’t meet the Level 3 entry criteria you can join our one-year Level 2 programme. This comprises of compulsory GCSE Maths and English (if not already attained at grade C/4 or above) and one from the following: • Biology • Psychology • Sociology Students who have attained a grade C in English or Maths can choose two from the above. HOURS OF STUDY Up to 16 hours per week (daytime only) for 30 weeks. LEVEL 3 ACCESS TO HE DIPLOMA Entry requirements: 4 GCSEs grade A-C/9-4, including English and Maths, or successful completion of the one year Level 2 programme. Pathways on the Level 3 programme are tailored to different careers/Higher Education areas. These are: 1. Art and Design 2. Business Professions 3. Computing and ICT 4. Film, TV & Creative Writing 5. Health and Caring Professions 6. Health Science Professions 7. Humanities 8. Sport & Exercise 9. Public Services & Allied Professions HOURS OF STUDY The Access programme requires attendance for 14 hours a week over 34 weeks. TUTORIAL SUPPORT AT ACCESS LEVEL 3 Access Level 3 students are supported through a tutorial programme which includes guidance and assistance in choosing a university course and applying for a university place. We’ll confirm your application by text and by email. Interview Once you’ve submitted your online application form, check for texts and emails regularly. You’ll be invited for an informal interview with a course tutor. Prospective Access Level 2 students will also be required to take initial assessments in English, Maths and Science (should you opt to study Science). The interview will also give you the chance to meet the staff and ask questions. Those students who have English as their second language may be assessed by our ESOL department. Prospective Access Level 3 students will be required to produce their certificates at enrolment to satisfy us that you are eligible for the programme.
