The eLearning Pack of Cards
The Hopwood Hall eLearning and Technology Vision is rapidly moving forward and this ‘Pack of Cards’ is just one element of that strategy being put into action.
In the pack you will find lots of helpful tips and tricks for use in the classroom and workshop. In the main these are written by your teaching and learning colleagues in Hopwood Hall College.
The concept of the cards is that they should offer you help, ideas and inspiration to aid in improving the quality of teaching and learning for our students by making lessons more active and collaborative utilising eLearning and Technology. The cards are written by practitioners for practitioners and offer examples of the good practice already evident across the College. It is hoped that the sharing of this emerging excellence will help colleagues with new ideas and techniques learnt from, and supported by, others in the College.
The cards can be categorised into the following basic types:
- Introductions and the basics
‘Things I have learnt’ and ‘What does it mean’ - these cards explain simply and clearly the value of eLearning technology. - Effective starts and ends to lessons
For instance one card describes a simple recap activity as a lesson starter that could be used in any curriculum area. - Planning, paperwork and support
There are simple tips here for using technology as well as a detailed set of 3 cards explaining the Individual Learning Plan process and how to document it electronically. - Embedding skills
Tips for evidencing competence, developing independent learning and using screen tips for formative assessment are all contained in this section. - Engaging learners - getting them interacting
Gaining whole class contribution and creating interactive revision resources are just two of the cards to be found here.
