Learner Support
Achieving at Hopwood Hall is about a successful partnership between you and the college. We want you to have pride in the college and in the work you are doing and to respect the college’s staff, facilities and environment.
In return we will show respect for you, your goals and your achievements. As college is a preparation for higher education and for employment, you will be treated as an adult. You will have responsibility for managing your own time and workload throughout the day making sure you are on time for lessons – with everything you will need from pens and homework to equipment and kit – and making full use of the learning resource centres when you are not in classes. If you are unwell and unable to attend we need to be notified by 9.00am.
The college offers full and part-time courses in a wide range of subjects. Your class teacher will advise you on what is appropriate clothing and acceptable behaviour and they will outline the guidelines for the classroom adhering to any health and safety rules or industry standards for the classes and area of the college you are studying in.
We expect high standards of work and behaviour from our students. The performance of the college is measured and monitored by government inspections. In the same way, your performance in college will be measured and monitored – punctuality, attendance, attainment and achievement – to ensure that your time at college is fruitful and you are going to achieve success. Your behaviour will be challenged if it is inappropriate and there is a student disciplinary process that can be invoked.
Most of the additional support you may need can be accessed through the specialist staff at information centres on both campuses.
Our overall aim is success for our students which will bring satisfaction to the staff who work with you.
