Parent’s Entitlement

As a parent or guardian of a student under 18 at the start of the course we welcome your involvement in your son or daughter’s college experience.

We provide our students with a college and course handbook which we hope you will also read so that you become familiar with what the student can expect and what we expect of them.

We aim to work in partnership with you and your son or daughter to help them achieve their potential.

You can expect:
  • To receive regular reports on your son or daughter’s progress
  • To be invited to a parents’ evening to discuss their progress against their individual targets
  • An invitation to a Higher Education (HE) evening to discuss progression routes
  • To be contacted when a tutor has serious concerns about punctuality, attendance or progress or if your son or daughter is the subject of disciplinary action
  • A prompt reply to any enquiry you make of the college
We expect

High standards of work and behaviour from our students and we need you to support our efforts by:

  • Encouraging your son or daughter to meet work deadlines
  • Contacting us if you have any concerns about your son or daughter’s progress
  • Encouraging punctuality and good attendance and arranging holidays out of term time

If you are dissatisfied with any arrangements made for your son or daughter you can complain informally to their tutor or section leader or formally in line with the College’s complaints procedure.
