Adam Bates

  • Rochdale Hornets RLFC Chief Executive
  • Entry to Sport Diploma

Adam joined Hopwood Hall College in 2003 studying an Entry to Sport Diploma.

During his time at the college, Adam got his first taste of Rugby League when he was asked to join the newly formed rugby academy team. This happy accident subsequently saw him start a hugely successful journey in the sport.

After leaving the college, Adam worked on various community and voluntary projects until he set up his own rugby league club in Nottinghamshire – Sherwood Wolf Hunt RLFC. In their debut season the club won the Midlands League title.

His success soon caught the eye of Rochdale Hornets RLFC, who made him their Chief Executive in 2016.

“At college I wasn’t the most academic student, but Hopwood Hall helped to teach me that you can apply yourself in many different ways, not just in an academic sense, and still achieve success.”
