In 2001 Robert was appointed as the NHS Employer Representative (a lay member) by the Privy Council to sit on the shadow board of this new regulatory body which registers and approves the training of 12 professional registers and approves the training of 12 professional groups of health workers including physiotherapists, occupational physiotherapists and radiographers.
Robert is also the Vice Chair for the Board of Directors (and formerly Secretary) of the Hospice Appeal Fund at Springhill Hospice, a member of the British Heart Foundation, a former member of Rochdale Borough Chamber of Commerce (Training & Enterprise), a member, treasurer and 2nd Vice President of the Rotary Club of Rochdale East (former past President and Club Convener) and a member of Rochdale Borough Council’s Remuneration Committee.
Robert’s hobbies include bridge, dog walking, football (as an Oldham Athletic Supporter) and DIY.
