Derek O’Toole, who is 43, joined the college from Hull College, where he has been Deputy Principal since June 2001.
Prior to that, he was Head of Business and Computing Faculty and Project Director for ILT (Information and Learning Technologies) at City and Islington College, London. Derek is a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin, with a degree in Theoretical Physics. He followed this with post graduate degree in Software Engineering at the University of North London. Derek is married with one daughter. His hobbies are judo, drinking Guinness, reading (everything), and listening to music (anything from Classical to Country, played at high volume). He is also a life-long Arsenal supporter, (which could be a bit tricky here in Greater Manchester).
