I have worked for the College for over 20 years. Being the resident caretaker/manager has meant that during that time the College has become part of my life’s blood. Over the years I have witnessed many changes and improvements including change of ownership, new buildings and Senior Management Teams. Most of these changes have been for the better with millions of pounds invested to create better working and learning environments.
Over the last few years the pace of change at the College has accelerated. I personally feel the demands and expectations are much higher and we are challenged (as well as challenging others) to do better and provide the best service we can on a daily basis. The College is moving in the right direction and everyone is keen to ensure the College once again becomes an ‘Outstanding’ College. I feel support services are equally important and have a vital role to play in achieving this objective, which is why I stood for the Staff Governor position. Support services make up the fabric of the college and can play a more proactive role in helping it succeed.
I have gathered a wealth of experience during my time at the college in Building Services Management. This will provide a more hands on perspective to the Board of Corporation, which should be particularly useful during this time of regeneration at both Middleton and Rochdale Campuses.
